Recently, Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology announced the list of municipal design innovation centers in 2023, and Digital Literature and Tourism Design Research Center of Shanghai Polytechnic University led by School of Art and Design in collaboration with other related disciplines of the school was successfully selected as one of the two universities approved.

      Shanghai Design Innovation Center is based on the requirements of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology for the recognition of national industrial design centers and the deployment of Shanghai's Design Capital construction work, aiming to further bring into full play the market mainstay of Shanghai's design industry, enhance the level of design service supply, highlight the enabling and driving role of design innovation, and build the backbone of the world-class Design Capital in Shanghai. The aim is to further utilize Shanghai's design industry as a market leader, enhance the supply level of design services, highlight the empowering and driving role of design innovation, and build Shanghai into the backbone of the world's first-class design capital. After the independent declaration of reporting units and evaluation and defense at the municipal and district levels, 41 municipal design innovation centers will be newly established in 2023, including 2 in colleges and universities.

Relying on the platform of the university, the research centers will focus on the digital transformation of traditional industries in Shanghai's 23645 modernized industrial system, combining the disciplinary characteristics of the university, focusing on the direction of digital culture and tourism, and empowering the key areas of digital economy, meta-universe, intelligent terminals, AIGC, fashion consumer goods and other industries to build a leading original design platform with innovation capability in the field of digital culture and tourism.
